About the SLCU - Holland

Sierra Leone Central Union (SLCU) The Netherlands with the acronym SLCU Holland is an umbrella organization of 14 registered Sierra Leonean organizations in the Netherlands.

We support the integration of Sierra Leoneans in the Netherlands within the framework of the Dutch government policy and stimulate their active participation towards the development of Sierra Leone through open discussions, website, workshops, conferences, and newsletters.

SLHO - Rotterdam

Sierra Leone Humanitarian Organisation- Rotterdam was established on May 16th 1999 in the city of Rotterdam. It is the oldest community organisation by Sierra Leoneans in the Netherlands.

The involvement of women

The involvement of women in the general and executive council of the SLCU executive has always and still remains a problem for the SLCU. Several attempts to incorporate women into the SLCU has been made but the result is still negative. Almost all the executive members of the SLCU comprises of men

Events Coordination

There is  lact of coordination of events and social activities in the community. This problems facing some sister unions and their members every year, in planning and coordinating their annual activities with other sister unions in the country. The SLCU has identified this problem and decided to use a Central Activity Agenda (CAA) as a solution. Thus the registration publication of of all event in our website.

Netherlands - Sierra Leone Linkage

The link to organizations here and at home is yet to be fully established and there is more to be done to realise that. We would continue to identify areas of strategic interest, support programs linking up with both Governmental and Non-governmental organizations in the Netherlands and at home for both financial and non-financial support
